Tuesday, March 17, 2015, Dallas, TX – AKnowledge Partners President and CEO Dr. Homaira Akbari is among the featured speakers at the Wireless Innovation Council (the “WIC”) session which runs March 18 to 19 in Miami, Florida. The event is a gathering of high-level decision makers from Fortune 1000 and cross-functional industries who work to collaborate and uncover new innovation opportunities. The explosion of smart devices, connectivity and advanced applications has created an exciting wave of change and innovation. However, while consumers have been the primary driver of wireless innovation, corporations still have limited awareness of the potential impact of these emerging technologies and what they mean for their businesses.

Dr. Akbari will share her global expertise on the Internet of Things (the “IoT”) and the future impact that IoT will have on existing business models of large industrials and governmental agencies. Experts predict by 2020, over 50 billion “things” will be connected to the Internet, representing more than $3 trillion in economic value. Everything from digital marketing to sales force effectiveness and financial services will be impacted by what Dr. Akbari calls “The Fourth Industrial Revolution.” She predicts that corporations will need to evolve and connect various internal and external networks and relationships to develop lasting solution for “IoT” and maintain a competitive edge.

Members of the WIC include a board of directors and executives from global organizations that include Marriott, Fidelity, Pfizer, Harley Davidson, NASA, GE, UCB, Halliburton, Vitality, and AKnowledge Partners. The event is sponsored by Mobiquity, Inc.

In May, Dr. Akbari will deliver the commencement speech at Transylvania University in Lexington, Kentucky. Founded in 1780, Transylvania is the nation’s 16th oldest institution of higher learning and is consistently ranked in national publications as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country. Dr. Homaira Akbari

AKnowledge Partners President and CEO Homaira Akbari will share her expertise on the ‘Internet of Things’ at a technology industry roundtable presentation on March 6 in Paris, France. Akbari will share how the internet continues to impact the global economy and what it will mean for businesses and consumers long-term.

For the last two decades, there have been a large number of technological disruptions: the boom and growth of the Web followed by wireless enablement, followed by Web 2.0, followed by mobility. The next technological disruption will come from the ‘Internet of Things’ which many believe will result in an industrial revolution. According to experts’ prediction, by 2020 the number of things connected to the Internet will reach 50 billion and over 3 trillion value will be created. While the first models of the ‘Internet of Things’ have been in existence for more than three decades, it is not until now that the ‘Internet of Things’ has given birth to massive deployment of smart systems, which will ultimately have a disruptive impact on the way we live, collaborate, and conduct business.
